Features Stories

John Davis.

I love making a good, long read. I went to journalism school and narrative writing school. I have a B.A. in journalism and media production from the University of Iowa and an MFA in fiction/narrative from Hamline University.

Some of my favorites:

• A Mpls.St.Paul Magazine feature on Lanesboro’s John Davis  (above) who secured $1.1 million dollars of arts-based grant money for a town with 754 people.

• A Star-Tribune feature on Oelwein, Iowa’s reaction to the book, Methland: The Death and Life in an American Small Town.

• A Gustavus Quarterly feature on alum Marissa Brandt, a Korean adoptee who returned to help lead the women’s Korean Olympic Hockey Team.

• I also love to commission and edit a good essay, like this one from travel writer Aaron Teasdale on being “out there.”

• I also love a good Q&A.
